"Our best 24 member, 3 generation family vacation we've ever had!"

Left on Apr 10, 2018 for a stay in Feb 2018

We spent 5 1/2 weeks at 8th & Ocean - 1st 4 weeks was just the grandparents staying in Casa Mac. The final 1 1/2 week we rented the entire building for our family. Because we were the 1st guests after Hurricane Maria we expected a few hiccups - and there were some. But Gary and the crew were gracious and accommodating when issues arose. High points of the facility: both 1st and 2nd story patios. Lot's of space and chairs to spread out in. The interior of the house had several gathering areas suitable for the different age groups of our family to use. The beach was great - not as large as it used to be so happy it's being renewed after Maria. Not so great: early morning rooster wake up call and the many dogs roaming around. All in all we loved the area and the vacation home.

When we decided to visit Rincon, we were 12 women making their 17th annual foray. We rented the entire house. By the time we arrived, we were 10. One had passed from us far too soon and another was dealing with the passing of someone else. So it was a smaller, but still merry band arriving at 8th & Ocean last week. We drew numbers for the rooms and quickly made this wonderful place our home for 5 days.

There were places where we could all gather as a group and other places where we could retreat for a quiet conversation or some reflective moments. The multiple kitchens provided us different venues for breakfast and dinner, with ample utensils, plates and cooking equipment. The beds were spacious and comfortable and we would have all been much lazier, enjoying the slumber, had it not been for the one full-throated rooster next door and his fledgling partner who could barely manage a croaking crackle. I will admit, had we thought that the rooster would have provided a good meal, we might have acted to eliminate the early alarm.

The view of the sunset from the 2nd floor balcony was sublime and the large covered porch on the first floor was a comfortable spot for munching snacks, drinking beer and watching the ocean. The house is so, so, so close to the ocean that several of us kept checking the first night to make sure that the waves weren't entering the kitchen. I have never slept so close to the water - it was wonderful.

We had parking for our 3 cars with nary a problem. The only issue we had was a power outage on Saturday night. The house had emergency lighting that helped and a few candles. Luckily it was at night, so we went to bed. The next morning, we solved the most serious problem of making coffee by lighting the gas stove and boiling water. We also discovered the trick of recharging cell phones from our neighbor who sat in his running car playing the radio and singing while he did his. The power problem was a blown transformer that rendered the entire block dark, but despite it happening on the weekend, electricity returned on Sunday morning.

This is a perfect house for a large group. Wilson, the property manager, was wonderful with everything including following up with the power company about the outage. And his recommendation of a particular "street vendor" for chicken, rice and beans was perfect- the food was AWESOME! Everything was clean and ready for us. The beach is readily accessible and the water is generally quite tame and very warm at this location. We even bought sardines from a fisherman casting his net one morning and had fresh fish for lunch.

Two grocery stores are close by (by car) and fresh fish are available by calling the phone number listed on signs posted on telephone polls. The Sunday morning farmer's market in town was delightful for gifts, prepared food and fresh mangos. Art galleries, including at a brewhouse, were wonderful.

I fell in love with Rincon and will always have the happiest of memories of the trip and this house. I can recommend it without reservation for families, friends, reunions, weddings, whatever. Go, enjoy and love it.

This was our 2nd year staying at 8th and the Ocean. Last year we rented the entire bottom villa and this year we rented the entire house with 19 other women. This vacation home has everything you could possibly want and more. Every single one of our guests had an outstanding time and as we were leaving, everyone said they want to do it again next year. The house with its large open air deck area, 3 kitchens, perfect location and so much to offer in so many ways is the perfect vacation spot. Wilson the caretaker is a joy to work with and was available any time. This is by far the best place to stay in Rincon and we will be back.

Stayed here with friends for a wedding celebration. The entire house was rented out for guests. The house was perfect!

HOUSE: There is a huge partially covered deck/patio that was large enough to accomodate the wedding reception party of about 30 guests and that doesn't include the servers/musicians. There is also plenty of seating. Inside there is plenty of room for guests to not feel cramped. The kitchen areas are nice and the house was clean. The only small inconvenience is the roosters in the neighborhood that starting sounding off at the crack of dawn each day. I bring ear plugs when I travel so not a problem for me.

LOCATION: The location couldn't have been any better except for the long drive from the San Juan airport in crazy P.R. traffic (hint: take the tolls). The beach is immediately off the patio and is very peaceful and quiet. Since this property isn't situated next to a popular beach not many people pass by the beach here. I feel this is almost a hidden secret because compared to other beaches I saw while in Puerto Rico, the surf in this area isn't near as intense. There is also plenty of palm trees for shade so even if it's really hot outside you can stay nice and cool. Rincon is a small friendly town and you feel like you are home vs. at a vacation rental. Everything you need can be found within a 1/2 mile from the rental home.

Our family traveled on many different flights to Puerto Rico. I was not the first to arrive at 8th and Ocean, but the text I received from my son upon his arrival said it all," Awesome!" The week continued to provide great experiences for all of us, from 18 months to 67 years old. Each morning found the early risers enjoying some quiet time drinking coffee on the beach. Parasailing, paddle boards, kayaks, and wave runners were just a short walk down the beach. The Villa was spacious and well set up for our very large family, and would work well regardless of size of a group. You can cook breakfast lunch and dinner for 30+ or have an intimate meal for two. Unfortunately, we found ourselves without a car, but that turned put to be a blessing. We made several daily trips to Edwards Market a few blocks away and found local restaurants within walking distance. We chose Rincon because we wanted to be sure there would be sun and warm weather. We weren't disappointed! Fun in the water and waves kept our young and not so young kids happy throughout the day. In the evening we were all in awe of the beautiful sunsets. Family supper, games, and fun finished our evenings. There was a resounding vote that the Davis family will return to 8th and Ocean in Rincon, Puerto Rico.
